Saugatuck sees two important trends regarding smartphones and users shaping IT management costs now, and likely to accelerate IT complexity beyond what most enterprise IT and business organizations are prepared to manage:

• The personal and business value perceived by users, and the satisfaction expressed by users, is greater than seen with any previous IT; and
• Market dominance is as yet un-established by any smartphone device or OS provider.

The net impact through at least YE2012 will be tremendous jockeying for position by providers, and accelerating turnover and churn of devices (and OSes) by users, resulting in rampant and fragmented growth among independent software providers developing for smartphone business users and organizations. It’s a recipe for IT complexity beyond practically any previously-experienced IT revolutions.
